The Defence Topic Group focuses on strengthening the role of AI, data and robotics in supporting Europe’s defence readiness, resilience and strategic autonomy. Our mission is to promote cross-sector collaboration between civilian and defence innovation communities, and to explore how dual-use research and technologies can contribute to European security, competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
We aim to provide a platform for structured dialogue and strategic foresight on the integration of defence priorities in future EU R&I programmes (notably FP10), while facilitating knowledge exchange, matchmaking and policy feedback. The group will serve as a forum to identify regulatory bottlenecks, support mechanisms, and emerging opportunities in dual-use innovation-especially for Industry, RTOs and Academia.
Our ambition is to connect the ADRA community with relevant actors across EU institutions, the defence ecosystem, and sectoral stakeholders. We will collaborate closely with the European Commission (e.g. DG RTD, DEFIS), EDA, national ministries, civil security actors, and other thematic initiatives focused on resilience, cybersecurity, or critical infrastructure.
