This bootcamp offers a comprehensive introduction to the landscape of AI standardization, with a particular focus on both international and European initiatives. Designed for practitioners, researchers, and technical contributors, the program explores the frameworks, processes, and key organizations shaping the future of AI governance and interoperability.

Participants will be introduced to the latest efforts in AI standard development, including those led by ISO, IEC and CEN/CENELEC, as well as the evolving regulatory context under the EU AI Act. Through real-world case studies, interactive sessions, and expert guidance, attendees will learn best practices for compliance, how to assess AI systems against emerging standards, and how to apply standardization in practical development contexts.

Beyond technical knowledge, the bootcamp empowers participants to actively contribute to standardization processes. Attendees will gain insights into how working groups operate, how to submit proposals or feedback, and how to engage with multi-stakeholder bodies to ensure that AI standards are inclusive, transparent, and ethically sound.

Whether you're building AI systems, managing risk, or shaping policy, this bootcamp will equip you with the tools and confidence to navigate a rapidly evolving AI ecosystem—and play a direct role in shaping its future.

The objectives:

Understand the Key Principles of AI Standardization
Gain a solid foundation in the purpose, structure, and impact of AI standardization. Explore how standards contribute to safety, transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI systems. Learn the roles of various standardization bodies (e.g., ISO, IEC, CEN/CENELEC) and how their work aligns with evolving regulatory frameworks.

Explore Global AI Regulations and Compliance Requirements
Examine the international AI regulatory landscape, including the EU AI Act and related policy initiatives. Understand how global compliance requirements intersect with standardization, and how they influence design, deployment, and risk management in AI and robotics systems.

Learn How to Identify the Role AI Standards Can Play in Your Projects
Assess how AI standards can be applied in real-world contexts—whether for development, procurement, auditing, or governance. Understand how standards can support responsible innovation, improve product quality, and help teams align with legal and ethical expectations.

Prepare Contributions to AI Standardization to Enhance Interoperability and Trustworthiness
Develop the skills and confidence needed to contribute effectively to standardization working groups. Learn how to formulate input, draft proposals, and engage in technical discussions that improve the interoperability, safety, and trustworthiness of AI systems—particularly those developed within your own organization or sector.

Connect with Industry Experts and Like-Minded Professionals
Build relationships with leading figures in AI standardization, regulation, and applied AI development. Engage in peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunities to foster collaboration, share challenges, and stay informed about future developments in the field.
